Job Title: Maintenance Engineer (shifts)

Description:

Main duties: • Carry out engineering improvements to maximise machine availability, performance and product quality. To take an active part in six sigma initiatives to identify and resolve missed opportunities. • To carry out maintenance of production equipment and services within the site and perform product changeovers. A particular focus to be on SMED (single minute exchange die) activities and reducing production setup times to enhance the sites ability to practice lean manufacturing. • To carry out the manufacture and assembly duties to a high engineering standard. Seek to reduce waste in all processes and ensure that all activities contribute to achieving the lowest possible cost of manufacture. • Assisting with the implementation of TPM (total productive maintenance initiatives with production staff) and PPM (planned preventative maintenance). • Maintain and improve the safe working environment, and assist with creation and review of Safe Operating Procedures and Risk Assessments. To support initiatives, campaigns and activities that form the site Health and Safety action Plan. Skills: • Ability to read and understand engineering drawings, and Hydraulic, Pneumatic and electrical circuit diagrams. • Able to carry out welding and fabrication processes using MIG, MMA and gas cutting equipment. • To effectively use powered and hand tools; and conventional machine tools such as lathes and Milling machines. • Able to fault find within systems, using a practical and logical approach to identify and resolve any issues. . • An understanding of function and design of Hydraulic Pneumatic and electrical components. • A good general understanding of manufacturing processes and procedures. • A strong understanding of engineering principles achieved by a time served apprenticeship or post school qualification Experience: • Time served Engineer to a minimum NVQ 3 standard or suitable equivalent. • Two years experience as an Engineer in a high volume manufacturing environment. The role as maintenance Engineer requires a strong team ethic both with the maintenance and production shifts. Day to day duties will include measurable engineering process improvements, ongoing project work, PPM activities and product changeovers. A “can do” attitude and constructive outlook and a flexible approach to working hours are essential.

Salary Guide: £30 to £35K d.o.e.
